A FOODIE IN CHICAGO: FLORIOLE CAFE & SWEET MANDY B'S BAKERY

12:07 AM

As I mentioned in this post (and now you know I had my trusty carry on luggage nearby), I headed to Chi-town last weekend for my pal's AMAZING winter wedding. It was great to be back on my old stomping grounds, especially for such a joyous occasion. Em looked beyond gorgeous (literally one of the prettiest brides I have ever seen), but alas I am a tease....I have no actual wedding pics to show you. Tear.
But I did find a pic of her dress online (and she looked 10000 times better than that model in it) and she paired it with a 'blinged out' floor length veil...I pretty much died and went to heaven when I saw it

Had a lunch with my wonderful hostess/mom of a BFF from high school at Floriole Cafe & Bakery, a French cafe that strives to use local ingredients for fresh and healthy fare. I ordered a yummy butternut squash soup and a poached pear/arugula/gorgonzola tartine, and she ordered what I think what the hugest piece of quiche I have ever laid my eyes on. Apparently it was really good too!

Moseyed on over to Sweet Mandy B's, a confectioner of all things sinfully delicious. Picked up some cupcakes (would you expect anything less?!) in some yummy flavors....blueberry  pancake, pumpkin spice, carrot, and red velvet.

I also got snowed in due to the airports getting shut down...gotta love those Midwest blizzards! At least some people will have a snowy Christmas. ;) Passed the time watching "Pillars of the Earth"...mind blowing. I read the book, was totally obsessed, and the mini-series did it proud. Highly recommended by moi!
