This is Lauren, and she is fabulous. She needs to get a gig on HGTV stat...she is so cute and likable, and she has such a fun and quirky design sensibility. The gist of her "show" is to find clients through Craigslist, and then decorate their entire place with finds from the super useful site. In the vid below, she took a bare bones apt and make it cozy and unique with just $500. Check it out!

Here's a quick list of who I am thankful for in my ultra-fabulous life:
To my hubby, pal, and partner-in-crime John - You rock, and I will love you always. I am thankful that God gave us not one but TWO chances to realize that this is the real deal. It's been an adventure the past few years, and I am thankful that I have you to share each moment with.
(PS Stodmuffin is the epic nickname given to me by the one and only Superbek...I was beyond distraught when KAPOW went out of commission due to holy matrimony and my superhero cohort came up with this winner. Amazing, huh?!)
To my wonderful family - Thank you for the unconditional love and support. I am beyond lucky to count each and every one of you as my nearest and dearest, and am so blessed to have a family that is always there no matter what. It is rad to be living on the East Coast with so much family just a short drive away.
To my fantastic friends - To both new and old friends. This year has been a nutty transition with lots of highs and lows, and you peeps keep me glued at the seams. To my LA peeps, I miss you all like crazy and am beyond psyched to see you in the Spring. To my new Beantown pals, I am thrilled to have met you and am excited for adventures to come!
To my fabulous followers - Thank you all for your comments and support! I get beyond excited each time I see one one of you chiming in and have such a fun time checking out your latest finds on your own blogs. It means the world to me that you are active and involved on Triple Max Tons, and you inspire me to keep chugging along on this wild ride that is blogging.

This little delight is definitely up there on my list of top 5 fave cookies - the combo of lavender and honey is so light and elegant, and it is a bit on the salty (vs sweet) side which I really enjoy. The hubby and I are completely addicted...he has already had 7 today! I brought these over to my sib-in-law's house a while back for something to nosh on as we all cooed over their precious newborn baby girl, and they were a hit with everyone...including my 2 year old nephew and 5 year old niece! They called them the 'special herb cookies'...and NO they are not addicting because of THAT herb. Psshttttt. So without further ado, here is a photo tutorial on how to whip up these amazingly lovely (and holiday appropriate) honey lavender sugar cookies! Adapted from this sugar cookie recipe at Epicurious.
THE INGREDIENTS
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 Tablespoon vanilla
A scant ¼ cup of crushed edible lavender
A scant ¼ cup of honey
Other gadgets you will need:
Cookie cutters
Parchment Paper
Rolling Pin
Mortar and pestle
STEP 1:
Pour the lavender into a mortar and pestle, and crush. Combine with flour and salt, and whisk together in a small bowl.
STEP 2:
Beat together butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium-high until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes in a stand mixer or 6 minutes with a handheld.
STEP 3:
Combine egg, honey, and vanilla in a prep bowl and beat into the mixture.
STEP 4:
Reduce speed to low and add flour/lavendar mixture, mixing until just combined.
(PS: Try not to be jealous of all my kitchen prep space...2x2 feet of copious acreage and it's ALL MINE!!!)
(PS: Try not to be jealous of all my kitchen prep space...2x2 feet of copious acreage and it's ALL MINE!!!)
STEP 5:
Form dough into 2 balls and flatten each into a 6-inch disk. Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until firm.
(The original recipe calls for 1 hour of refrigeration, but I have made this recipe 3 times my way and the dough is perfectly fine. Waiting an hour would be torture!)
STEP 6:
Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 350°F.
STEP 7:
Roll out 1 disk of dough (keep remaining dough chilled) into an 8 1/2-inch round (1/4 inch thick) on a well-floured surface with a well-floured rolling pin. (If dough becomes too soft to roll out, rewrap in plastic and chill until firm.)
STEP 8:
Cut out as many cookies as possible from dough with cutters and transfer to 2 ungreased large baking sheets, arranging cookies about 1 inch apart.
STEP 9:
Bake cookies, 1 sheet at a time, until edges are golden, 10 to 12 minutes, then transfer to racks to cool completely.
STEP 10:
Meanwhile, gather scraps and chill until dough is firm enough to reroll, 10 to 15 minutes. Make more cookies with remaining dough and scraps and bake on cooled baking sheets.
OPTIONAL- STEP 11:
If using icing and coloring it, transfer 1/4 cup icing to a small bowl for each color and tint with food coloring. Spoon each color icing into a sealable bag, pressing out excess air, and snip a 1/8-inch opening in 1 bottom corner of bag. Twisting bag firmly just above icing, decoratively pipe icing onto cookies. Let icing dry completely (about 1 hour) before storing cookies.

My inbox has been flooded with emails from various publicists touting "modern and elegant" Thanksgiving table settings....but I was neither inspired or impressed with any of them. So I enlisted help from interior designer and friend Kyle Schuneman to create a beautiful and fresh Thanksgiving table setting. Yup, this uber-talented designer (who just so happened to be dubbed one of the "Next Wave of Top 20 Designers" in House Beautiful) created a custom design for Triple Max Tons readers....enjoy, get inspired, and I would love to see pics if you recreate this spectacular look!
Tips from Kyle on how to create your own intimate and stylish tableau:
I think that Thanksgiving should be a table full of natural elements that feel casual and elegant. I love doing a lot of chunky wood blocks at different heights with cream candles to create a really special table.
An arrangement of dried orange proteas in the center would create a focal point without blocking the conversation flow and natural linen and burlap runners and napkins would be a great textured touch.
I like combining napkin rings and place card holders in one to keep it from feeling too formal and I love the idea of using cut twigs with everyone's handwritten names on them as the name card - I think these easy personalized touches make your guests feel welcome.
For the dishware, the handmade feel is a big trend now so I love using these shaped plates and bowls in whites, creams and naturals. Having worked with multiple chefs on shows and photo shoots I have learned that food looks best on whites and creams so let the food be the star!
Aren't these tips fab? I am loving the Protea suggestion, and the dishes he selected are just perfect. I am sure the glow when all the candles are lit would make for an intimate and unforgettable setting. Genius. For more inspiration, go check out Kyle's website....lots of interior goodness over there, and follow him on Twitter for the latest steals and deals!
A big thanks to Kyle for putting together this gorgeous inspiration for a Thanksgiving table setting!

Want to change up your 'do? Look no further than this simple braided chignon....it's chic, looks pretty polished or unkempt, and most importantly - it's really easy. Here's how to get the look:
- Pick up one of these essentials - a hair donut- from your local beauty supply store. They make these in all sorts of colors and styles - the one below is a 3" round for blondies like myself. If you would rather go the budget route, you can cut the toe end off a clean tube sock and roll it up. Either way works.
- Start by parting your hair down the middle, and then braid some of the hair on the sides.
- Pull your hair back into a low ponytail, and secure with a hair tie.
- Pull your ponytail through the hole, and start bobbie pinning hair section by section around the donut. Don't worry about longer hair sticking out quite yet - you'll fix that at the end. Another way to go about this is to fan the hair around the donut and pull a hair tie over it.
- Once the donut is fully covered, take the longer hair pieces and twist them around the base of your chignon. Pin in place.
- Voila- a beautiful hairstyle in under 5 mins!
If you want a video tutorial, you can get the gist by tuning into this YouTube video. I am warning you though - the music is loud and terrible, so you will want to mute your comp if you are at work (or just because you don't want to subject your ears to that kind of abuse).

WISHING:
For this amazing Chanel handbag. J'adore! I have never seen this chevron pattern before, and it's a real treasure.

WANTING:
To learn how to play guitar. John has been playing a lot this week, and has tried to teach me a few chords (with little luck...siiigh). One day I just might remember them and embrace my inner rock star.

WEARING:
Lazy day today....didn't put on any make-up or get "dressed" really. Still deciding if that is a pro or con of working from home. Either way, I am fine with it so long as I have my cozy 291 hoodie and leggings. I would post a pic but that would be horrifying for all parties involved. ;)

I just want to scoop all of Kelly Bergin's designs up. Simple, elegant and modern...you can tell these are well-made clothes. My fantasy wardrobe is multiplying exponentially by the day...siiiigh.
RESORT11 COLLECTION
Really liking that split back top...reminds me of old school butler tuxedos from 101 Dalmations, haha! Also adore the long dress with the beautiful knotted tie at the hip. The silver metallic dress is fun for holiday soirees, and you can't go wrong with a sexy bustier-style LBD.

As I have said before, I have a serious soft spot for whitewashed interiors with lots of natural light....and these designs from Dutch decorator Tine Kjeldsen definitely do not disappoint! I am majorly obsessed. This is interior eye candy, and I just can't get enough. Swoon!
I normally gravitate towards white floors, but the contrast here looks amazing! Love the sparkly lampshades too. |
This bedroom looks surprisingly cozy - even though it is minimalist in design. |
Such pretty china in an equally elegant display case. |
Love all the striped rugs and stainless details...want to cook in this kitchen so bad! |

I have a serious case of the "wants," and J.Crew's shoe department is literally giving me a run for my money. It is taking every ounce of discipline I have to not whip out the plastic and charge away. I REALLY hope these gems for my gams go on super sale pronto because I need these in my life RIGHT NOW!!!

I desperately need to get a hair cut, and am having a tough time finding a salon in Boston that is amazing but affordable. Any suggestions, Boston readers???
My hair right now is super similar to Sienna Miller's (left photo), and I am contemplating the 3 cuts to the right. I'm loving the idea of ombré color a la Lily Aldridge, a shorter wispy 'do, or just bangin' it out like Kate Moss. What looks are you liking???

Found this blog through A Cup Of Jo, and the artist/blogger's observations are witty and entertaining....have already browsed through a few pages and had a good laugh. I love how he captured the essence of each and used a simple, clean graphic to tell the stories of these 2 fabulous cities. A few of his prints are even for sale...magnifique!

As you probably just saw, I posted a super cool lady in a lively, color-saturated frock. I just imagined someone coloring her outfit in the most vibrant hues possible, making the colors pop against the grit and grey in NYC. Then I began wondering how artists, fashionistas, and crafters use colored pencils (is that weird to think about? Kinda...I thought so). I am a born doodler- as a kid, I constantly filled reams of paper with comics and caricatures of my family. My medium of choice? Colored pencils: no muss, no fuss, and no obnoxious ink smears that stain my hand like I am some sort of swamp mutant. Gotta love 'em. Read on for some cool art and design surrounding this artsy must-have!

Christmas cards - sometimes cheesy, always fun to get, and occasionally looking a little "mass market" and blah. While it's the thought that counts, why not send your friends and fam some unqiue, well-designed eye candy? I have rounded up some of my top picks for this season...get inspired, scribble your notes, and share some holiday cheer!
On that note (pun soooo intended-hehe!), I am making it my personal goal to write all my thank you notes from the wedding BEFORE it's time to mail out Christmas cards....you all better hold me to it!!! ;)

I love this concept - taking something mundane that is on everything that we buy, then making it pretty. Very Andy Warhol. These custom bar codes by Japanese company D-Barcode are genius! Wonder what custom barcodes for iconic brands like Gucci, Chanel, or Fendi would look like?
